It has been a few days since anyone has heard from us, so I have a quick report. The team is going very well. Sherry and I are teamed with a member from Ohio, Jason. On the first day we were joined by another team member, Lauren. Every day we go to the Community Christian Church. The first day, Monday, we received a tour of the school. It is an impressive place with 8 grades plus to levels of preschool.
The clock is not the guiding force here in Kenya, but we are getting things accomplished. After the tour of the school, we gathered those present for the teaching, someone said 41. I didn’t count them. The topic was stewardship. I talked about three hours on Monday, with tea beaks and lunch thrown in. The lessons have been going very well. After we were finished, we went over to the clinic where the other ten teammates were working. We got a tour of the lab and got to watch and listen to the team as they shared their adventures of the day. The evening ended with a very wonderful dinner with the team, a thunderstorm, and a debrief. “What was your low point and what was your high point?” It was fun to hear people’s stories, and an early bedtime.
On Tuesday, we started the morning being late for devotions (I misunderstood the schedule). Then it was off with Jason, Sherry and I, along with a different teammate, Mallory to the church for more teaching time. I started the morning with everyone and after lunch (2:00), Sherry had the women, and I had the pastors and church elders. In the morning, I started the background for biblical interpretation. Once we broke, I finished with my stewardship lesson. It focused on the pastor and church leaders’ role in leading the church members in the area of stewardship. We are now back to the motel and headed soon to dinner. It will be just the four we had all day. The other members of team are off at a distance clinic and returning late.
Tomorrow, we follow a similar pattern, most likely just the three of us. I will let you know how it goes. We are having a great time, and the teaching is being well received. God is at work here. Thank be to him,
