So I have been in Oklahoma for 5 days now. Today, Monday the 6th, I moved to the Texas Panhandle. So far, this has been a fine trip. The tour features six missions. I have enjoyed the interaction I have had with all of them. We spent last week getting to know each other and sharing our presentations. Watching others and receiving feedback on our own has helped me fine-tune my presentation and add a couple of things.I had the opportunity to set up our display for the first time myself. (I cannot wait until Sherry gets here tomorrow so she can start that project.) We were hosted by the Christian Church in Freedom, OK. They were great hosts. The picture to the right is of buzzards roosting on top of the grain elevator. They were just across the street from the church. I was fascinated by them and so I share them with you.

On Saturday, each mission headed off to its first assignment. I made my way to Laverne, OK. I was to present in Englewood, Kansas which was a half an hour away, but we stayed at Laverne. On Sunday morning I made my way to the little town of Englewood. It is a town of 50 or 60 residents. I shared my mission with them and then they put on a grand feast. I met some wonderful people, including Joyce (first lady on the right), who made as good a Waldorf salad as I have ever had. The presentation went well I think. It is a small church in a small town. To the left are those who were there. It was such fun that, as I had Sunday night open, I returned to hear another mission’s report.
Once we were done with the presentation and another meal, we returned to Laverne for the evening. The only problem was that I lost the house key that was entrusted to my care. Fortunately, I guess, I also forgot to lock the door, so we could at least get in. The lost key will be replaced today, and when I return there next week, someone else (Sherry) will be in charge of the key.

Today, Monday, I moved on to three days in Texas. My first stop is Pampa. Report 2 will tell about my Texas presentations. Sherry joins me tomorrow morning in Amarillo (and yes, I have been singing THE SONG.) Please, keep praying that all goes well and that we are safe in our travels.
